Asthma – Causes And Cure

asthma Asthma is a chronic condition in which a person suffers from inflammation in the inner walls of the airways which carries air in and out of the lungs. This causes the airway to get narrower and it becomes difficult for the person to breathe. The one suffering from Asthma is said to be Asthmatic. Common asthma symptoms that can that can be noticed in Asthmatic person are wheezing (hissing sound while breathing), difficulty in breathing, coughing and tightness in chest.

Causes of Asthma

According to some recent studies almost 300 million people in the world are suffering from problem of Asthma. The causes of Asthma can’t be defined very accurately but most commonly know reason are either due polluted environmental  condition or genetic, parents suffering from Asthma are more likely to have this condition in their child also.

Environmental causes

Places that have a high pollen count, high ozone level, traffic pollution, workplaces where there is exposure to chemicals, airborne allergensare factors that can result to allergies which may cause Asthma. Even the environment inside the house can also lead to Asthma or other allergies which may trigger the Asthma; moulds, dust mite, cockroach droppings, animal dander, cigarette smoke are also important reasons for causing Asthma.

Genetic

Family with a medical history of Asthma is at highest risk of having Asthma to their children. In case of identical twins, if one of them is having Asthma then the other one has almost 25% chances to suffer from the same problem.

Cure for Asthma

There is as such no permanent cure for Asthma but with regular medication and guided precautions it can be controlled to a great extent and one can lead a normal life. Before prescribing one medicines for Asthma, doctors have to consider many things, the doctor will have to see if the medicine suits the patient and also the dose to be given. There are anti inflammatory medicines which are either oral or taken through a nebulizer and sometimes it is given through inhalers which help medicine reach directly to the lungs. Instructions to use inhalers should be properly followed.
